In order to optimize the industrial firing cycle, the dimensional variations of the specimen, such as thermal expansion and shrinkage can be analyzed during thermal cycles with optical dilatometer without any contact. It is possible to determine the transformation temperatures and observe sintering behaviour of ceramic body during firing. Sample size should be maximum 15mm*5mm*5mm for optical dilatometer. By the use of heating microscope, one or two specimen can be simultenously analyzed during the firing cycles to detect automatically the specimen typical temperatures such as sintering, softening, sphere, half-sphere and melting.
It is also possible to observe thermal behaviours of all kinds of ceramic bodies including glaze and glass ceramics using optical dilatometer as a heat microscope.
Sample should be prepared 20-30g dried powder for heating microscope analyse.
At room temperature analysis can be performed at maximum 1600°C temperature range and maximum 80 K/min heating/cooling speed.
Simultaneous thermal analysis is a combined DTA/TG and DSC/TG system in which both thermal and mass change effects are measured concurrently on the same sample.
With the equipment, mass change, decomposition, thermal stability, oxidation, transformation enthalpy, spesific heat (Cp), phase transformation temperature, glass transformation temperature, crystallization, phase diagrams etc. analysis can be processed. At room temperature, system can make measurements at 1500°C temperature range and 0-40°C/min heating/cooling rate. It is possible to make measurements in inert or oxidizing atmosphere.
Sample should be prepared 20-30g dried powder to measure.
To determine materials' thermal diffusivity in 0.001-10cm2/s range, the most suitable to ASTM E—1461, DIN EN 821 is Microflash Laser Flash device.
The equipment also allows to identify thermal conductivity in 0.1-2000 W/m.K range using spesific heat (Cp) values taken from STA device.
Equipment can be used in maximum 1100°C temperature range at room temperature. It allows sample changing (3 samples can be measured at the same time).
Measurements can be processed at inert, oxidizing atmosphere or under vacuum (10-2 mbar). ND:GGG is used as flash source and it has a wavelength of 1064nm. Temperature change of the sample is achieved by an InSb detector that has nitrogen cooling.
Dilatometry equipments are used in size changing measurement of material as a function of temperature under negligible load and controlled temperature programme.
Using the measurement datas; sample's thermal expansion coefficient, volumetric expansion, phase transformations, glass transformation temperature and softening point can be established.
It is possible to make measurements at room temperature and 1100°C temperature range with 5-10°C/min when computer controlled system is in horizontal direction. Furnace temperature can go up to 1200°C.
Samples should be in 30-50 mm length and 5-6 mm diameter.
There exists two portable holders (molten silica and alumina) with a max. working temperature of 1100°C. Measurements can be processed in oxidative or inert atmosphere.
